Norm Hill from Subversive has commented the topic on the Mobius board:

It is true...we are releasing it. Richard has also given us access to his cutting copy which includes scenes from the film noone has seen before. We also have the trailer to a 16mm version, commentary track with Richard, the three documentaries, a 5.1 mix, etc. behind the scenes, etc. It will be the cut Richard himself finished after the film had been abandoned. No relation to the version released before on videocasette in the States.

Believe it. Subversive wouldn't announce the disc without being in the clear as far as the rights go.

A wise man orders the R2 disc and sells it off when he gets his hands on the Subversive disc.

Just the way things are. I remember when people were pumped about the Hardware Buena Vista disc.

Screw it, I'll just buy all versions. Im a sucker for multiple versions of films (I couldnt tell you how many versions of Army of Darkness I own).
Plus it's not exactly gonna break the bank.

Im really looking forward to a Stanley commentary on Dust Devil, who ever is putting the DVD together should put the Stanley Dust Devil journal on there as well, it's a fascinating read.
Plus I hope they don't leave off the time coded making of from the previous DVD, it's worth it for Stanley's rant about trinatrite alone!

My Dust Devil collection:

- UK VHS
- Italian VHS
- German DVD

Add two more discs and all I need is the French tape!

Hey man, if you ever get a chance I would love to know how the Italian version differs from the Final cut that appears on the German DVD (apart from the obvious audio)

It's the Miramax-print, running at 84 minutes due to PAL speedup. I originally bought it because the sleeve said it would run at 91 minutes (the Wimbledon workprint).

An update on the Subversive Cinema website. Stanley has now recorded the commentary tracks, as well as one or more additional interviews for the release.

"Richard Stanley recently recorded commentaries and interviews not only for his terrific 1992 horror film DUST DEVIL, but also for three oustanding and rarely seen documentary films".
