Look out for an extra-special surprise addition to the Zone Horror FrightFest list of extras. Simon Boswell, composer of music for Phenomena, Demons 2, Stagefright and Santa Sangre, will be previewing his new album ‘Close Your Eyes’ released by Flick Records in September. It comprises much of his past key soundtrack work, including Perdita Durango and Shallow Grave, chopped up and reassembled as new pieces with additional vocals provided by actors Ewan McGregor, Ray Winstone and cult director Alejandro Jodorowsky. Simon will also be unveiling the Richard Stanley directed pop promo for the original track ‘Tripping the Dark Fantastic’ featuring Dario Argento rapping! Simon will give an on-stage interview about this project and provide copies of the highly anticipated album as prizes.

Fits into what we've heard earlier about Stanley accompanying Boswell to a trip to Rome.

Nice to hear the video will actually be out.

I met Simon Boswell in January and he showed me (no, I'm not kidding) this promo - actually, he showed me the version with live sound (without the music added).

It features Dario Argento in his office under a red light - the version I saw was uncut, so it contained all the bloopers - and the trick Stanley played on him.

Well, I don't know if it may be considered spoiler...

Anyway, it was Argento behind his desk, under a Red light (plus a blue back light, if I remember correctly) saying stuff like "Darkness...fantastic..." and "dripping the blood".

That's all.

At a certain point, RS' girlfriend, who was behind Argento, pulled out a knife at his throat - that's the trick.

I also saw footage with Jodorowsky - but it wasn't that special (I mean, it looked great, but it didn't have anything to appeal to a horror fan).

The promo, Tripping the Dark Fantastic, is now available at Simon Boswell's website.

Argento goes into so much freestylin' in his rappin' that I honestly fear'd he'd bust a cap in my ass!
